Set in the shape of a silhouette of the Old Well, a campus landmark since 1898, the map illustrates the buildings, brick paths, monuments and even the heritage trees. The outlines of the buildings are color-coded so that one can see at a glance approximately when each was built. The map reflects the campus as it was in late 2004.
Framing the map are various campus scenes and landmarks. The book titles show represent all of the Ph.D. and professional programs offered at UNC. These, too, are color-coded by date. The shield on the upper right border depicts the sports—lacrosse, field hockey, basketball and soccer—in which the Tar Heels have won NCAA national championships. The symbols of the Dialectic and Philosophic Societies, which gave UNC its blue and white colors, are also shown. The watercolor original of the map was reproduced in a signed and numbered limited edition of 1000. It measures approximately 30 inches high by 22 inches wide, and is printed on high quality 100% cotton archival paper. It is available for purchase at the Bull's Head Book Shop in the Student Stores on the UNC Campus or directly from the artist.
The map commemorates the Centennial of the Fisher Park Historic District of Greensboro, North Carolina. Set in the shape of a Craftsman-style window typical of the neighborhood, the body of the map shows the streets, buildings and boundaries of the historic district. Buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places are shown and all buildings are color-coded by the approximate date when they were built. The top and bottom borders of the map include elevations of the National Register buildings in Fisher Park. The side borders show a selection of distinctive dormers in the neighborhood. The map was reproduced in a signed and numbered limited edition of 100. The map measures approximately 23 inches high by 22 inches wide, and is printed on 100% cotton archival paper. Signed copies are available from the artist and unsigned copies are available for purchase at the Greensboro Historical Museum gift shop.
